How To Stop Shyness In 1 Minute or Less

We all have moments when we’re shy.

Some of us are naturally shy and some of us have shy moments from time to time.

And that’s OK, but there are times when your shyness harms your ability to do what you want to do or achieve a goal you want to achieve.

Whether you’re mostly shy or just have shy moments from time to time, you can overcome your shyness very quickly, within a minute or so…

so you can move past your shyness and engage with the people around you.

This is particularly useful when you’re in an interview.

It’s easy to get shy or feel intimidated in an interview, or even a social situation you might find yourself in, but if you remember the 3 steps I go through today when you start feeling shy, you can overcome your shyness.

So instead of withdrawing from the situation you’re in and potentially missing out on the job if you’re in an interview, or not being fully engaged in the social situation you’re in, you can overcome your shyness very quickly and engage in the situation you’re in, and enjoy the full benefit that comes with being fully present in the situation you’re in.

1. Stop. Don’t Do Anything

The first step is to stop, take a breath and take a second or two to compose yourself.

The main reason people feel shy is because they feel that what they have to say won’t be good enough in the situation, so they clam up and disengage.

When you stop, take a breath and collect your thoughts, you’ll find that you can clear your mind of the doubt, decide what you want to say, then say it.

Shyness is also a way we manage rejection. If you don’t engage in the situation you’re in, then you can’t be rejected by the people you’re with.

However, the flaw with this approach is that when you’re in a situation like an interview, and you’re there because you want the job, being shy will go against you, not work for you.

So the first step is to stop, take a breath and collect your thoughts.

2. Remember What Your Goal Is For The Situation You’re Currently In

The second step is to remember what your goal is for the situation you’re in.

For example, if you’re in an interview, remember why you’re there, and that you’re there to get the job.

And remember, the hiring manager asked YOU to come in for an interview. THEY wanted to meet you.

So don’t let your doubt tell you any different.

Then with that in mind, remember you only have something to gain by being engaging with the hiring manager.

In other words, if you’re offered the job, then good for you, but if you’re not, then no big deal. There’s no change in your situation, but other job opportunities will come up.

So you have everything to gain and noting to lose by getting engaged in the interview and putting your best foot forward.

So the second step is remember your goal for the situation you’re in. If it’s an interview, then go for it because you’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

3. Just Do It

And step number 3 is just do it.

Don’t over think the pros and cons of what you should say or do, or how you should do it.

If you do that the doubts will creep in.

It’s better to just get on and do. In fact when you do, you’ll be amazed at how well it goes.

So that’s step 3. Just do it!

So the 3 steps are-

  1. Stop. Don’t Do Anything
  2. Remember What Your Goal Is For The Situation You’re Currently In
  3. Just Do It
